Zigbee adapter CC2531

The CC2531 is a USB enabled true system-on-chip (SoC) solution for IEEE 802.15.4, ZigBee and RF4CE applications.

Advantages

• Very cheap (17,90€)
• Excellent receiver sensitivity and robustness to interference
• Lightwight system
• Works reliable

Disadvantages

• Not very powerful and has a limited rang of ~30 m line of sight
• It’s just an unprotected circuit board
• If the CC2531 is not already flashed, it must be flashed

Conclusion

Once installed, the C2531 is very easy to use and is suitable for systems that require ultra-low power consumption.
